Dear Debra Davis,

As Chair of the Visual Arts at Columbia University School of the Arts, I am writing you to introduce a new summer program at Columbia University in New York City beginning this May. We are offering an Advanced Painting Intensive program which will run for six weeks from May 23rd-July 1st, 2011. As this year represents the launch of the program, I have decided to assume the role of lead teacher along with a talented artist, teacher and alumnus of our program, Arlen Austin In addition to the lead teachers, painters of national stature will be visiting and lecturing over the course of the six weeks. The Advanced Painting Intensive is conceived as a mini-post-baccalaureate studio program compressed into a six week time-span. Each student will have an individual studio with 24-hour access on the Columbia University campus. The program aims to attract artists who have either a B.A. or a B.F.A. or who are at an advanced level in their work and who wish to participate in a very active program that will require a high level of commitment. Each student will be expected to focus on the development of a coherent body of work in preparation for graduate admission or for other professional opportunities.

Please review the detailed description about the program here, and you may distribute as you wish.

We are very excited about this offering and we hope you will inform your advanced level students and alumni.

With best regards,

Gregory Amenoff
